Graham & Frieda's Update
Graham & Frieda’s Update
March 28, 2007
Dear praying friends,
If you were to eavesdrop phone conversations around our home these days, you’d often hear wedding talk. For one very good reason – this coming Sunday afternoon, April 1st, our Elizabeth will be married to David J. Morgan near Jindabyne, NSW (in the heart of The Man from Snowy River country in the Snowy Mountains, about 5 ½ hours drive south from Sydney – and no, it hasn’t been snowing there – it’s Autumn!!).
Elizabeth and David have chosen a beautiful outdoor chapel at an Alpine Village for the official ceremony. We’ll be surrounded by gum trees, with an outlook over Lake Jindabyne in the distance. And if it rains (we’re entrusting the weather details to our loving Father!), we’ll gather together in their auditorium.
We’re praising God that all our family can once again be together for this wonderful celebration. Another very precious gift from the Lord.
David and Elizabeth have thoughtfully planned a weekend of fun family activities, with celebrations beginning on Saturday and continuing on into Monday. Thanks for your prayers for Dave and Elizabeth, their families, and all the wedding guests and friends. May Jesus Christ be praised.
Our families from Jakarta (Alison, Andrew & 2 children) and Los Angeles (Scott, Suzy and 3 boys) will then stay on in Sydney for a week or two afterwards. David, Janette & Freya live just outside Sydney, so we’ll stretch the celebrations for a week or so, without the honeymooners!
Hey, I’d better get on and finish this Update ASAP because tomorrow, Thursday, we’ll be heading down to the airport (early!) and then driving on to the wedding site.
So what else has been happening, and will be happening over the next few months?
Firstly, a book update:
- We are excited to hear how God is already using our book in different parts of the world.
- We’ve seen some good sales in churches where we’ve ministered or been interviewed.
- We were also much encouraged to hear that a formal arrangement has been made so that our book can be sold in North America, including through Amazon. We’re hoping to hear a similar report soon from the UK.
- Please pray that God will stir up an interest among Christian bookstores here in Australia.
- The Indonesian book has now entered its final editing stage before publication in June. Our part is to make any final changes. We’re up to the half-way mark in the 18 chapters.
Secondly, ministry plans update:
- April – mid-May: Leading several training sessions for future missionaries, including for a group of OMers from South Korea, and also a group of International Teams’ recruits.
- April – May: Preparing for upcoming overseas ministries, as follows:
- June: Visit to family & supporters in Germany (first half); ministry in churches and to the OM team in the Czech Republic (second half)
- July (1-7th): Giving 4 Bible studies to a conference of missionaries at their regional conference in Southern Poland, also leading a workshop and being available for counselling
- July (2nd half): Teaching an intensive M.Div. course on Marriage & Family to a group of seminary students in W. Java, as in previous years. Also spending time in Jakarta with Alison, Andrew, Grace and Timothy.
- Woven in among these ministries are our regular “equipping & encouraging” situations via emails, Skype & phone calls, and some face to face meetings with God’s servants. It’s our privilege to encourage God’s servants, like a young pastor we met last Sunday.
Some of you pray regularly for our health. Thank you. God has been answering your prayers, and ours. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had our annual checkups and have passed with flying colours. (Will still need daily spiritual checkups!)
In closing, something we read the other day in F.B. Meyer’s Our Daily Homily: “Believers are the world’s Bibles, by studying which, men may come to know the Lord Himself.” Let’s make sure that the message people around us see and hear is truly from the Lord, and GOOD news.
With our love and sincerest thanks for your co-labouring with us,
Graham & Frieda
